Pronghorns – Pronghorn Buck in Dry Grass – Greeting Card

Pronghorn are amazing animals. They are the fastest land mammal in the Western Hemisphere, reaching speeds up to 55 mph. Though they are not as fast as the cheetah, they can maintain their speed for longer distances. They are often referred to as antelope, but are not actually in that lineage. Their closest relatives are giraffe and okapi. There used to be large herds in Prescott Valley, Dewey, and Chino in Northern Arizona, but human growth has taken away a good part of the plains they roamed. You can still see small groups here and there, so each siting is a blessing. This is a Pronghorn Buck that was watching after his harem of females and fawns.
